Training checklist for a new frontline hire

Not an HR checklist. This one is about the job — what a new person on a floor, in a bay or on a crew needs to be able to do, and in what order.

In short: Day one: safety-critical items, orientation, one job done properly, feedback. Week one: one station or task at a time, in the same order every time. Week two: the situations that don't happen daily — complaints, deliveries, closing alone. Give it to the new hire and to whoever trains them, in the language each reads.

Day one

The hazards they must know before touching anything — chemicals, equipment, food handling, whatever applies. Where things are and who to ask. One job, shown, done together, then watched. And before they leave: how it went.

Week one

One station or task per shift, same sequence for every hire. Show it, do it together, watch them do it. Don't add the next one until the last one holds.

Week two

The things that don't come up every day. Handling a complaint. Receiving a delivery. What to do in an emergency. Closing alone. Cash. These are where an untrained person does real damage, and they get skipped because nobody plans for them.

Give it to two people

The new hire, in the language they read, so they can check it. And the trainer, so the checklist doesn't depend on who's on shift. Same list, both directions.

How it works

  1. Talk it in. Walk through the job out loud, in whatever language you think in.
  2. Get a clear routine. Tiendo structures it into steps, safety notes and checkpoints, then translates it into your team's language — numbers and times kept exact.
  3. Your team reads and confirms. Post a QR code or hand a new hire one link. They read it on their phone and tap "read and understood."
One routine, every language your team speaks: EspañolKreyòlTiếng ViệtالعربيةPolski中文

Questions operators ask

What should be on a new employee training checklist?
Safety-critical items first, orientation, then jobs one at a time in a fixed order across the first two weeks, with the non-daily situations in week two.
How is this different from an onboarding checklist?
Onboarding checklists usually cover paperwork and setup. This covers the job — what the person needs to be able to do.
Should the trainer have the checklist too?
Yes. It's the only way the training stays the same regardless of who runs it.
Can I build this checklist in Tiendo?
Yes — assign routines to a new hire by day one, week one and week two, and both the hire and their trainer get the same plan.

Same checklist, every hire.
